As part of our wider contribution to the island community, T&G’s Johnny Moffett and Marcus Taylor recently took part in some teacher-training for the Secondary Engineer Programme, which is partnered with Skills Jersey, at the Household Reuse & Recycling Centre (you may be interested to know we were provided some Civil and Structural Engineering services for the HRRC project). The STEM curriculum focuses on educating students in four specific disciplines: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics by partnering individuals and companies with schools. In this instance, we were introduced to basic fluid mechanics, as the participating schools will be taking part in the Fluid Power Challenge, a competition to design, build & operate a model crane to carry out specific tasks.
The day finished with a tour of the Energy from Waste Plant, another project we delivered Civil Engineering input on.
