Not only did T&G need to consider the structural design of this modern bespoke residence, but also a safe way to demolish the existing structures and support the neighbouring properties whilst the works were on site.
The temporary works primarily consisted of sheet piles, propped off a concrete slab. The intricacy in our design was to ensure that the temporary works did not impede the permanent structural elements.
The house itself required us to design a ground-floor garage area, supporting a robust reinforced concrete frame above to provide large openings for the large windows and glazed doors the architect specified to maximise the beautiful sea views. Reinforced concrete retaining walls provided terracing into the existing hillside.
