Leading structural engineers T&G have confirmed the recruitment of three additional staff members to join their growing pan-Channel Islands team.
The new employees, two based in Guernsey and one in Jersey, will not only help meet present and future client needs but also contribute towards a company strategy of supporting development of local engineering talent.
T&G Structural Engineers have operated in Jersey for more than 30 years, and in Guernsey since 2010, trading there initially as Babbé McCathie but more recently rebranded to reflect pan-CI credentials and capabilities.

‘Developing the company in line with client needs has always been a keystone in our strategy,’ underlines T&G Director Tom McCarthy. ‘Whether that’s through evolving our expertise and technology to offer advanced engineering services or having the depth of talent needed to meet market demand. The appointment of Tom and Etienne in Guernsey and Grace in Jersey aligns with the latter, although the skills, enthusiasm and fresh outlook they bring will certainly support our continued service development too.’
Having worked previously for the company, Tom Nichols re-joins T&G Guernsey as a Revit Technician specialising in 3D design software. Etienne Wyser, who recently completed a Masters in Civil and Coastal Engineering from Plymouth University, also joins the Guernsey team in a structural engineer role. Grace Mather completes the trio of new starters, joining T&G Jersey as a structural engineer after finishing her Masters Degree in Civil and Structural Engineering at Newcastle University.
‘I’m really looking forward to full-time working with the T&G Guernsey team,’ comments Etienne, ‘having enjoyed work experience with them in between studying. There’s a great opportunity to build upon what I’ve learned at university while working on challenging projects at home in Guernsey.’
‘This is an exciting time to start my engineering career in a role with T&G,’ confirms Grace, who like Etienne spent work experience time with the company before being offered a permanent position. ‘I loved my time at university but am now ready to apply learning in practice. Having experienced the type of work T&G is involved in, the technology used and services provided, I can’t wait to get started.’
These three latest employees, whose recruitment increases T&G’s total staff complement to 20, are settling into their roles, having begun work with the company in recent weeks.
‘It’s great to welcome new starters to the team,’ Mr McCarthy concludes. ‘T&G has a proud commitment to provide career development opportunities for both new and existing staff members. Which means that everyone is looking forward immensely to working alongside Tom, Etienne and Grace and contributing towards their ongoing development.’
